About Us

Creating Jones St. is part journal and part shop curated by garden designer, Sharon Harris. It’s a space to document daily and seasonal life of a family in an urban environment. A life led by appreciating and valuing the process of living in the present, being mindful of the materials we use to live, and how we balance a productive, handmade life with a very busy, successful small business. Our business and family life unfolds from our home at Jones Street in Melbourne’s beautiful suburb of Thornbury, and we want to share that with you.

The shop stocks items that we love to use in our home and garden. It features products that enrich and contribute to living a life simply, acknowledging the importance of slowing down, taking time to make and becoming more responsible about how we choose to live and purchase. The purpose is to share what we use, have created or discovered.

Sharon believes that functional and beautiful should exist within everything we do and everything we use.  In order to share items that she has discovered along the way, both beautiful & practical, or items that she has created, the idea of  the shop gradually evolved.  To a large extent it is has emerged as a result visitors response, to Jones Street, on how Sharon and her family live.

Sharon has been designing some of Melbourne’s most beautiful gardens, through her business Sharon Harris Garden Design, for the past 27 years. To find out more about Sharon’s gardens click here.

Creating Jones St. acknowledges that we live and work on the land of Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
